My wife and I are on an adventure to eat a meal from every country in the world in alphabetical order. For Austria we chose to try this little food truck. I have to say it was probably our best experience so far. I am sure one of these days an Austrian TV crew will turn up to do a small piece on Manfred the owner, because he really is something of a food hero.
Every day he does a 16 hour shift making everything he sells from scratch. He bakes the buns, the pretzels, makes the sausages, etc... It's a labour of love which is evident in the taste of the food. Sausages are pretty ubiquitous. They're everywhere and frankly (no pun intended), they're not particularly fashionable. Right now everyone is into dumplings, and all things Asian. But Manfred and his little food truck enterprise perseveres to spread the wonders of the perfect Austrian sausage to everyone who's lucky enough to stop by. And stopping by is definitely something you should consider because his sausages are easily the best of their kind I have ever had. Lovely pop - followed by smooth texture and meaty flavour. The BEST hotdogs you can get in the UK by far.
We bought a pack from him too take away and cook from home. 6 enormous ones for £10.90. For the quality they are a bargain. I just wish he wasn't 50 miles away because we'd buy them regularly.
As a German I love love love The Austrian House, the Käsespätzle are super yummy and freshly made, the fries are freshly made as well. Mannfred is very friendly and I‘m happy he is in the neighborhood!
The 5 ratings across the board speak for themselves.
I only bought fries and the pretzels and every time they were delicious. By far the best chips in London.
The pretzels are super soft and delicious and freshly made.
Manfred is such a lovely person and enjoys very much what he does. He said they are open during the festive period as well.
The place it's right outside the Shoreditch high street station. On Google maps looks a bit further away from it.
Either way, if you are craving chips and are in the Shoreditch area, this is the place to go. The portions are generous, the Austrian style, and the regular size is very filling.
